Parent Fat Brands plans 20 new Johnny Rockets restaurants over 10 years
Johnny Rockets will expand in Mexico thanks to a new development deal with Virko Restaurantes S.A. de C.V. The franchise agreement calls for 20 new restaurants over the next 10 years.
In Mexico, Fat Brands, Johnny Rockets’ parent, already operates 25 of the brand’s restaurants across the country. Virko Restaurantes will bring the casual dining’s made-to-order burgers and classic shakes to more consumers in this next-stage expansion.
“Johnny Rockets has enjoyed much success in Mexico since it first debuted in the country in 1991,” said Taylor Wiederhorn, Fat Brands chief development officer. “Travelers from around the globe love seeing our iconic brand in many Mexican airports and can now look forward to our famous all-American food in even more exciting locations across Mexico.”
Developed and expanded in the United States and 25 other countries, the first Johnny Rockets restaurant opened June 6, 1986 on Melrose Avenue, Los Angeles.
