Fast casual makes new dish ‘non-salad’
Sweetgreen added a Chipotle Chicken Burrito Bowl to its menu. The fast casual continues to innovate culinary development. Consequently, its all-grains bowl is an integral part of its forward-looking platform.
The new bowls evolve beyond the greens. According to sweetgreen’s own research, chicken is the premier choice of protein for 70% of Americans. The findings energized the culinary team to move forward with their latest introduction.
The recipe for the Chipotle Chicken Burrito Bowl calls for blackened chicken, which is dressed in a new Roasted Chipotle Salsa. The blend of ingredients comprises roasted tomatoes, jalapenos, red onion, and garlic. Moreover, the base includes wild rice, which pairs with a brand new ingredient—lime cilantro black beans—an extra dose of protein to balance out the umami flavors. In lieu of lettuce, the beans, served warm, are joined by sliced tomatoes and cabbage, to make for a hearty burrito bowl that’s not to be confused with a salad.
“Our customers’ feedback plays a major role in the new menu items we introduce, and the Chipotle Chicken Burrito Bowl is our answer to heartier meal options that can be enjoyed any time of the day,” said Nicolas Jammet, sweetgreen co-founder and chief concept officer. “Inspired by bold chipotle spices, this protein-heavy option balances a brand new flavor profile for sweetgreen, with whole grains and better-for-you ingredients that our customers love.”
In addition, customers can use the discount code SGBURRITOBOWL to obtain 50% off the Chipotle Chicken Burrito Bowl. Sweetgreen is extending the offer to customers on April 6, which is National Burrito Day, only. Orders to the first 20,000 customers qualify when made for carryout or native delivery, or on Outpost.
