Third location in Oklahoma continues fast casual’s rapid expansion in 2023
Velvet Taco will open its first casino restaurant in partnership with Choctaw Casino & Resort. The new unit will be located inside of the District Food Hall in Durant, Oklahoma. The hip, taco-shop chain continues to expand as it reaches more than 40 US locations.
The District Food Hall Velvet Taco follows Oklahoma stores in Oklahoma City and Tulsa.
“We are honored to partner with the folks of the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma,” says Clay Dover, Velvet Taco president, chief executive and taco maker. “The opportunity to expand, and to break into the casino arena, is exciting for our brand and we’re thrilled to explore more partnerships like this in the future.”
As a result of the agreement between Velvet Taco and Choctaw Casino & Resort, Durant will see its first Velvet Taco. The District Food Hall Velvet Taco will offer the complete menu, according to an announcement. This includes fan-favorites Spicy Tikka Chicken and Korean Fried Rice tacos, in addition to adult beverages, like its Kick Ass margaritas, Palomas, and beer.
Velvet Taco executives are bullish on 2023, with three Dallas Fort Worth openings under their belt. In addition, through April, four restaurant openings in Texas—Deep Ellum, Rockwall, Grapevine, Frisco—demonstrate the brand’s growth momentum.
This year, the fast casual plans openings Texas, Oklahoma, and Florida. Durant should debut this fall.
