Legal Sea Foods opens restaurant in Town Center, Virginia Beach

Second Virginia location spans 8,000 square feet, including private dining space

Prestigious seafood chain Legal Sea Foods opened a restaurant in Virginia Beach. The new unit becomes the second Virginia location, exemplifying the brand’s current growth strategy. The Virginia Beach Legal Sea Foods at 211 Market Street offers the chain’s signature dishes and fan-favorite menu items. These include New England Clam Chowder, Baked Haddock and Half Pound Maine Lobster Roll.

The Town Center spot covers 8,000 square feet of space. The restaurant overlooks the main plaza at the Town Center. A capacity of up to 300 guests will allow for social gatherings and private dining functions, too.

The unit is adorned with “modern furnishings with warm, natural wood tones, and pops of marine blues, yellow, and other colorful accents that create a comfortable and contemporary ambiance. The vibrant bar scene includes a 26-seat three-sided bar, ample high-top seating, and a lounge area that can accommodate over 50 people in total,” according to a statement.

In addition, the dining room provides various seating options. Café tables along the long-curved window wall, plush banquette seating, large round power booths, and people-watching views would all appear to be good options. Furthermore, the restaurant offers a 70-seat wrap-around outdoor patio that is well-suite for alfresco dining.

“We are thrilled to be making waves in Virginia Beach and expanding our footprint in the mid-Atlantic,” said Matt King, president and chief operating officer of Legal Sea Foods. “Virginia Beach is a community with rich coastal history and a passion for seafood, and we are eager to give them a taste of our New England-style dishes and warm hospitality.”

The private dining space is named “Ship’s Cabin.” According to an announcement, the naming of the space is a respectful nod to Virginia Beach local Joseph Hoggard and his popular restaurant in Norfolk called Ships Cabin.

An inspiration to the Legal Sea Foods team when naming the space, Hoggard and his restaurant were an esteemed local presence. They put forth excellence in hospitality, quality seafood, and fine wines. Legal Sea Foods has indicated it will hold a formal naming dedication and sign unveiling later this spring.

The Virginia Beach Legal Sea Foods menu also features favorites like Lobster Bisque, Anna’s Baked Haddock, Fish & Chips, and its signature Crab Cakes. Beyond the menu items customers have grown to cherish, the restaurant also introduced a robust Sushi & Sake program not too long ago. In its hometown of Boston, it is quite popular.

Beverage selections include specialty cocktails, wines by the glass, ciders, seltzers and brews, including an exciting collaboration with Boston’s local Night Shift Brewing, Legally Hazy IPA. The loyalty program, Legal Net Rewards, recently launched, as well.
