New Boston location debuts in Carl J. Shapiro Clinical Center lobby in partnership with franchisee PR Restaurants LLC
Panera Bread opened at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston. The new bakery-cafe began operating in the Carl J. Shapiro Clinical Center lobby. The East Campus unit at 330 Brookline Avenue is operated by PR Restaurants LLC, a premier franchisee in the consolidated New England market.
The opening marked the 45th store in Massachusetts, as well as the 60th restaurant in New England. Spanning 2,000 square feet, the Beth Israel Panera Bread – East Campus will feature the restaurant chain’s clean-label menu. Food served contains none of the items in the fast casual’s US No-No list of ingredients. On that list, Panera Bread outlined certain artificial preservatives, sweeteners, flavors, and colors from artificial sources.
Plus, Panera Bread guests can expect the menu traditionally seen in other outlets. Soups, salads and sandwiches, in addition to flatbread pizza and sweets, are plentiful.

Shapiro Clinical Center Lobby of Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center,” said Mitchell Roberts, chief executive of PR Restaurants. “We’re proud to provide the warmth of Panera’s menu and all of our many healthy food items to BIDMC patients and their families, in addition to all of the doctors, staff, and caregivers who support the medical center’s vital mission each and every day.”
PR Restaurants operates 60 Panera Bread bakery-cafes in New England. Recently, it was named Fast Casual of 2023 by the Massachusetts Restaurant Association. It was also named to the 2018 Inc. 5000 list of the Fastest Growing Companies in America. Moreover, it has received accolades from local periodicals, including the Boston Business Journal.
“We are excited to offer a new nourishing food option for the BIDMC community,” said Christopher Minette, BIDMC VP of support services. “Having Panera on our East Campus will provide patients, their families, and staff a space to take a break from their day and enjoy a meal.”
The Beth Israel Panera Bread – East Campus will operate Monday through Friday, 6:00 a.m. to 11 p.m. and Saturday to Sunday, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
